Urban Exploring Informational Archive…
This Website is based on Information regarding Abandoned Structures, and discovering new methods of locating such locations!
Majority of new Locations I Visit, I already know are most likely abandoned due to extensive research online, through indirect vacancy indicators such as code violations to the town/city (due to the house being most likely a safety hazard) and or USPS Vacancy indicator (not always accurate) Good signs of possible abandonment can be more precisely determined through viewing last sale dates of said property. Combined with researching the owners living status, and or possible passing dates. For an east coast state like Massachusetts the most rewarding tools I have personally found are, Google Maps, Regrid Parcel Data Site and Zillow. Between these three resources you should be able to make a confident guess on the current state of most coastal region properties.
Nonetheless Driving around looking for Vacant abandoned structures does work, and can sometimes be rewarding. Although, I typically stray away from such action as I have better luck garnering a small list in a town nearby or city and going out to inspect a set list rather than aimless searching.
If you have gotten to the point where your infront of a seemingly abandoned house but not sure if its vacant,
1.Try the hose spigot/faucet and see if it dispenses water.
2. look through the window for signs of decay or being cleaned out.
3. Knock on the front door (running away is optional)
4. fly a drone above /around it.
5. See if door way entrances have debris built up, such as moss, dirt, debris of any kind.
6. If cars are left behind check the registration date on the plate if its recent there could be someone still living inside.
7. Check for boarded doorways/windows
Always ensure the structure is in fact empty of any persons

Tips for avoiding unwanted personnel.
No one wants to get arrested, or in legal trouble due to exploring, and venturing into condemned history. You must be vigilant and take extra precaution every time to avoid these consequences. If applicable use a scanner, always pick the most low-key entrance that's difficult to get into. Unwanted personnel often will not go above and beyond to catch/arrest you, Homeowners will go to the crazy length. always evaluate what your dealing with and be ready with a backup plan. Never explore something you think unwanted personnel will immediately respond to with only 1 exit being the one you entered through. Don't trap yourself in a vestibule that locks both ways.
If you do find yourself in an abandoned home that is quite busy outside,
make sure to be rotating from window to window while photographing every other minute. Do this until 25 minutes or so has passed as 25 minutes is too long for a personnel response.
Never explore with somebody that's not on the same page as you. If the explore requires you to send it and risk being arrested and your all in but your partner isnt, it can cause for some serious mishap. Exploring not solo, you must confirm your partner is willing to run or willing to stay. Confirm with each-other your plan.
